About Captain Riley Holden

I have been obsessed with fishing and the outdoors since I was old enough to hold a rod. Growing up, I had the privilege of fishing with and learning from many different guides on western rivers since the age of 9. At age 21, I became a Guide myself and knew right away this was the career for me. Teaching people, especially kids, the sport of fishing is my passion.

I was drawn to the Florida Keys by the challenge of chasing the biggest, fastest, meanest and most difficult game fish the US has to offer. Islamorada has a legendary angling history and I feel lucky every day to be able to experience the magic of this place. I am a fly fishing guide by trade and love teaching anglers the way of the fly, regardless of age, skill level or experience. However, the fly rod is not always the right tool for the job and I am equally comfortable using spinning tackle when the situation calls for it.

Where do we fish

Located at Angler House Marina in the heart of Islamorada, Anglers will have opportunities to target many different species and experience many different fishing situations. From the world famous crystal clear waters of Islamorada to the tannin stained waters of the Everglades, Capt Riley can find the right style of fishing to match any skill level, all within a 40 minute boat ride from the Marina.

Keys Backcountry and Everglades National Park

Backcountry fishing in Islamorada and Everglades National Park is a great way to experience the beauty of the Florida Keys. The shallow waters of the backcountry provide habitat for a variety of species including snook, tarpon, redfish, bonefish, permit, sharks, barracuda, snappers, and more. If you’re looking for an unforgettable fishing adventure, then backcountry fishing in Islamorada and Everglades National Park is the perfect choice.

Night Vision Tarpon Experience

Tarpon, like many fish, are largely nocturnal feeders. The darkness allows them to hide and ambush prey more easily. Fishing for them at night is an experience in itself, but this takes it to a whole other level. You’ll be equipped with helmet mounted Sionyx Opsin digital night vision devices which will allow you to see in the dark in full color all while capturing the audio and video of the action. Think tarpon fishing meets Call of Duty! (Tarpon season only)

Peacock/ Largemouth bass

In the Keys we have access to more than just the saltwater species we all know and love. We have a thriving Peacock and Largemouth bass fishery as well. Just 45 minutes from Islamorada, this is a great option for beginner or advanced anglers alike. (4hr recommended)
